Compare Us to Other Programs

The ID Theft Assist Platinum Service provides identity theft protection for the whole family. If you purchase our service, we cover the subscribing member; spouse or domestic partner; children under the age of 21 who live with the covered member; and children under the age of 24 who are full-time students.

  • Most other plans will provide family coverage, as well. The limitations will vary by plan, and none should be any broader than what we provide. Make sure your children are covered while in high school and college, because the Federal Trade Commission has identified the age group of 18 thru 29 as being one of the hardest hit by identity theft.

We provide daily alert credit monitoring for the named subscriber. If a covered member has their identity breached or stolen, then we will obtain a real time credit report from Trans Union and review all of the information with the member to determine what damage has been done and what action needs to be taken to recover their identity and restore their credit.

  • Other plans will provide credit monitoring; and many will consider this to be the foundation of their service. Few other plans have access to real time credit reports, when your identity has been stolen and time is critical; and very few provide the recovery and restoration services that we do.

When a subscriber's identity has been breached we provide an ID Theft Response Kit, conduct a needs assessment, and provide assistance over the phone until your case is closed. We notify the Postal Inspector of the fraud. Plus, we report the fraud to your creditors, and assist you in getting your credit and charge cards replaced. We do all of the work you are not required to do personally (for example: we cannot get your drivers license replaced, because they need to take a photograph).

  • Most other plans will provide some of this service. However, you should confirm what you will be required to do in the process. Some plans will only tell you what steps need to be taken, and leave all of the work to you. Some plans will reimburse you for your lost time, but limit it to $500 or $1,000 per week for 4 or 5 weeks. However, you must prove that you missed time from work; and who can miss 4 or 5 weeks from work?

When a subscriber's identity has been breached we will cancel checks, ATM cards and other banking tools that will allow access to your account(s) to stop the damage. We will file criminal reports with the authorities, and your creditors. We will also report the fraud to the Social Security Administration. We will place fraud alerts with all of the credit reporting agencies; and we will assist you in obtaining credit.

  • Some other plans will provide some of these services. Few provide all of them as we do. Most other plans will tell you what you need to do, but not actually do the work on your behalf.

We will complete an ID Theft Affidavit and submit it to the Federal Trade Commission on your behalf.
  • Most other plans will direct you to the FTC website and advise you that this should be done. This is an important step in order to complete the recovery of your identity and restore your credit.
ID Theft Assist has the broadest definition of "Identity Theft" of any plan in the market. We provide protection beyond your bank and credit accounts. We will go to work to restore your identity if it has been used by an identity thief in the commission of a crime. The same holds true if someone steals your identity and uses or exhausts your medical benefits. We provide a complete identity restoration plan that covers any breach or suspected breach of a member's identity.
  • Most if not all other plans focus on credit cards and bank accounts. Few, if any, will respond when the breach involves criminal activity or medical benefits.

  • We provide coverage worldwide, excluding only a handful of countries; and we have representatives in over 210 countries.
  • We have a diverse personnel, who combined can speak 26 different languages, which is a tremendous benefit if you are traveling outside of your home country and need help communicating with the local law enforcement; or we can provide translation if you do not speak fluent English.
  • If your identity theft occurs away from home, we can provide you with an emergency cash advance when necessary.
  • We provide free initial legal consultation if it becomes necessary to involve an attorney; and we can offer discounted legal services thru the Affinity Care network.
  • In addition, we offer unlimited emotional support over the phone thru Affinity Care; and we offer a limited amount of in-person emotional trauma support. The emotional burden and stress of being an identity theft victim can be as devastating as the financial strain.
